The Labvet Europe programme aims at qualifying designated laboratory animal veterinarians to the level demanded by the 2010 EU directive on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes and the subsequent guidance paper. It is to be seen as continuation of the competences gained from following the previous FELASA category D programmes, but it is solely dedicated to those thousands of vets who work world-wide as designated laboratory animal veterinarians.

The programme is 100 % online and it is accredited by the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA). It is structured to offer you knowledge and skills you can use in your daily work as a designated veterinarian. You can see the specific knowledge and skills you acquire on the learning outcome.

To enter the program you must register. For more information, see the LabVet Europe homepage.

The course is an add-on to the EU Function ABD course for animal researchers doing experiments on pigs, which allow the successful graduate to fulfill all EU learning outcomes for function ABD in pigs, and to become eligible to achieve a license and to do experiments on pigs.

Anyone who wants to enter the course must have a relevantmaster degree or be on a track to obtain it, as well as an general EU Function ABD course.

This online course contains the theory for laboratory animal science as demanded for those who in animal experiments will be allowed to participate under somebody else's license (Function A) and to kill the animals (Function D)
